2025 International Maestro Piano Competition Repertoire Guidelines
The competition comprises four phases
Preliminary Round (Deadline: 15 November, 2024) Applicants are required to submit a video recording via YouTube link, lasting between 20 to 30 minutes. The repertoire should include: i. One fast and one slow movement from a classical sonata by J. Haydn, W. A. Mozart, L. v. Beethoven, or F. Schubert. ii. One concert etude by F. Chopin, F. Liszt, C. Debussy, S. Rachmaninov, A. Scriabin, S. Prokofiev, I. Stravinsky, or B. Bartok. iii. The rest of the program is of the applicant's choice.
【Note】 1. Contestants who have won the 1st prize in competitions associated with the World Federation of International Music Competitions (WFIMC) since 2020 may proceed directly to the 1st round without the need to submit a preselection video. 2. All submissions must adhere to the following guidelines: ・The recording must be unedited and uploaded via a YouTube link. ・The camera angle should remain constant, with the applicant's face and hands clearly visible. ・Edited or processed videos will not be considered. ・Recordings should demonstrate excellent technical quality, preferably professionally recorded. ・Recordings must be no older than 3 years prior to the application submission. ・Only solo piano works will be accepted. ・Pieces can be recorded separately, but pieces within a cycle or a complete sonata must be filmed in one take without interruption or editing.
Notification of results will be sent to all applicants by December 15, 2024.
First Round (13-14 January, 2025) | Kaohsiung City DaDong Art Center 32 selected candidates will perform live. Repertoire Requirements: Participants must present a free program lasting between 25 to 30 minutes, which should include: I. One concert etude by F. Liszt, C. Debussy, S. Rachmaninov, A. Scriabin, S. Prokofiev, I. Stravinsky, or B. Bartok. II. One concert etude by F. Chopin. III. The rest of the program is of the applicant's choice.
Second Round (15 January, 2025) | Kaohsiung City DaDong Art Center 10 selected candidates will perform live. Participants must present a free program lasting between 45 to 50 minutes.
Final Round (16 January, 2025) | Kaohsiung City DaDong Art Center 3 selected finalists will perform with the Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra. Repertoire Requirements: Each finalist must perform one piano concerto chosen from the following list:

Mendelssohn: Piano Concerto No. 1, Op. 25 S. Prokofiev: Piano Concerto No. 3, Op. 26 M. Ravel: Piano Concerto in G Major, M. 83 S. Rachmaninov: Paganini Rhapsody Op. 43 S. Rachmaninov: Piano Concerto No. 2, Op. 18 S. Rachmaninov: Piano Concerto No. 3, Op. 30
【Notes】 1. Pieces from the preliminary round may be repeated in the 1st and 2nd rounds, but repertoire from the 1st and 2nd rounds cannot be repeated. 2. Only piano solo pieces are allowed for the preliminary, first, and second rounds. 3. All pieces must be performed from memory. 4. If you need to use sheet music for contemporary pieces composed after 1950, please submit the request to the committee via email at [email protected] before proceeding.
